Where is Melksham?

Our training centre is in Melksham, Wiltshire, England; our public Java, PHP, Perl, Ruby, MySQL and Tcl are all run there.

Location
Melksham is about 100 miles to the West of London, about 20 miles from Salisbury, 25 miles from Bristol, and 50 miles from Cardiff.

About Melksham
Melksham is a Market Town set amid beautiful countryside. The Cotswolds are just to the North, and Marlborough Downs and Salisbury Plain to the East and South East. Picturesque villages such as Lacock and Castle Combe (settings for many films) are a few miles away, with Bath, Stonehenge, the Westbury White Horse and Longleat all within a 30 minute drive too.

In Melksham itself, we have a wide range of eating establishments and pubs, a swimming pool, a leisure centre, and plenty of accomodation for visitors ranging from "Bed and Breakfast" establishments (with one or two rooms to let) through budget hotels to some establishments with superior facilities.

Where should I stay
When we confirm your course booking, we send you contact details for local B&Bs and hotels about which we get consistently good reports from our trainees; we include a few details such as the distance from our training centre. It's then up to you to choose an appropriate place to stay, and call and book direct.

The establishments on our list all have good single room availability (or will let a double room as a single), and are geared to the business visitor who needs to have breakfast in time for our 9 a.m. start on the second and subsequent days of the course.

Coming by Train
Melksham railway station is served by trains running from Swindon to Southampton; good connections are available from London (change at Chippenham or Westbury) and other major cities.

Please let us know which train you'll be arriving on for your course, and we'll meet you at the station; all of our courses are timed to start a little later on the first day so that you arrive on the 09:11 if you wish. There isn't a taxi rank at the station - so please don't hesitate to contact us ahead of time.

Courses finish just before 5 p.m. on the last day; we'll then give you a lift to the station so that you can leave on the 17:02 train and be back home that evening.

Coming by Road
Melksham is about 10 miles to the south of the M4 (London to Bristol and South Wales motorway); leave the motorway at Junction 17 (Chippenham) and follow the A350 Poole road to Melksham. Coming by Bus or Coach
We have a good local bus service - the X72 (Bath to Devizes and Easterton) service stops 100 yards from our training centre (ask for "The Spa"), and the 234 (Chippenham to Trowbridge and Frome) and other service serve the town centre which is about 15 minutes walk from us.

National Express coach service 402 come to Melksham from London daily (you're probably better to use the train though, as it's more frequent and the times suit better), and service 403 runs to Chippenham frequently from where you can get a local bus or taxi.

Coming by Air
Bristol Airport is just 30 miles away. Since public transport from there to Melksham isn't convenient, we'll collect you from there the evening before your course if you let us know which flight to meet, and we'll drop you back at the airport after the course is finished. If you can't find a PHP course in Glasgow, a Java course in Cork, a Tcl course in Dublin, a Perl course in Edinburgh, or a Ruby course in Paris, this could be your solution!
